Is a DPF Hazardous Waste?
Diesel particulate filters are not always classed as hazardous waste. Filters from off-road vehicles or industrial equipment may need extra care, so tell us where yours came from when you ask for a quote.
Whatever the classification, you have a legal duty of care for your waste under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Keep waste transfer notes for two years, or hazardous waste consignment notes for three years in England and Wales. We provide the right paperwork for every collection.

What is DPF recycling?
DPF recycling is the collection and processing of used diesel particulate filters so the metals inside can be recovered and the rest handled safely. National Recycling collects scrap DPFs from garages, fleets, dismantlers and service centres across the UK and sends them to licensed recycling facilities.
What is the scrap value of a DPF?
Some DPFs contain trace amounts of platinum, palladium and rhodium, which gives them scrap value. The amount varies a lot between filters, and metal prices change, so the value is best judged on your actual load. Tell us what you have and we will send a no-obligation quote.
