Why Businesses Must Recycle Power Tools
Power tools are electrical equipment covered by the WEEE Regulations 2013, so they should not go in skips or general waste. Under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, tool batteries need to be collected and recycled too. Your duty of care also means using authorised carriers and keeping waste transfer notes for 2 years.

Can power tools be recycled?
Yes. Power tools are electrical equipment, so they can be recycled under the WEEE Regulations. The metal casings, motors, wiring and plastics are separated and recovered at a licensed recycling facility. We collect corded and cordless tools from businesses across the UK.
How do I dispose of old power tools from my business?
Keep old tools separate from general waste and remove any battery packs. Then send us the tool types, a rough quantity and your postcode through our quote form. Our team confirms the details and arranges collection by a licensed carrier, with waste transfer notes for your records.
Do I need to remove the batteries from cordless tools?
Yes, where you can. Cordless tool batteries are usually lithium-ion, which can catch fire if damaged or crushed. Remove the packs, tape over the terminals and store them somewhere cool and dry. We collect the batteries with your tools and they are recycled separately.
Can I put broken power tools in a skip?
No. Power tools are covered by the WEEE Regulations, so they should be kept out of skips and general waste and recycled separately. Batteries left in tools also create a fire risk in skips and waste vehicles. Store broken tools together and book a collection instead.
Do you collect tools from hire companies and contractors?
Yes. We collect electrical tools from hire depots, construction firms, workshops, facilities teams and maintenance contractors across the UK. Whether you are clearing out a store of broken tools or replacing a whole fleet, tell us what you have and we will reply with a quote.
