Mobile Phone Recycling FAQs

Ask our team
How do businesses recycle old mobile phones?

Gather the phones in one place, back up any data you need, remove SIM and memory cards and wipe the devices. Then send us the quantity and collection postcode through our quote form. We reply and arrange collection by a licensed carrier, with recycling at a licensed recycling facility.

Can tablets be recycled?

Yes. Tablets are electrical equipment, so they can be recycled under the WEEE Regulations. Their batteries are removed and the metals, plastics, glass and circuit boards are recovered. We collect business tablets in bulk, along with phones, laptops and other IT equipment, from sites across the UK.

Should I wipe phones before recycling them?

Yes. Phones can hold personal data and access to company systems, and UK GDPR requires you to keep personal data secure when you dispose of devices. Back up what you need, sign devices out of accounts, then reset them to factory settings and keep a record of the devices you hand over.

What happens to the batteries in old phones?

Phone and tablet batteries are lithium batteries, which are a fire risk if they are damaged or crushed. At the recycling facility they are removed from the devices and recycled separately. If any batteries are swollen or damaged, tell us before collection so they can be packed and transported safely.

Is there a minimum number of devices for collection?

Our service is designed for businesses recycling devices in bulk rather than single handsets. The right collection depends on your quantity and location, so tell us how many phones and tablets you have and where they are. Our team will reply with what is possible.

Can I recycle my personal phone with you?

No. Our mobile phone recycling service is for businesses and other organisations, such as schools, councils and charities. For a single personal phone, check whether your local council's household recycling centre accepts small electricals, or ask your network provider about recycling options.
